Session Log

Session 2 — 29/9/26

Over breakfast we learned that Québec has invaded UCAS, occupying parts of New Brunswick and Ontario, including Ottawa. Québec claiming this was humanitarian assistance and to protect francophones in the event of sectarian violence.

Stretch tried to contact Riviera but got voicemail, not leaving a message. We did some desk research on the area, and found Janus had a closed-down site on the street. Stretch also contacted her Special Editor pal, Ike, who suggested the footage was from a mobile drone, and that Lone Star may have the footage.

We weren’t sure what to do so took a cab there. The cab refused to take us all the way, so we walked the last mile or so. The onld Janus premises, 1501 North Green View Avenue, was. large squat 3-storey building and seemed deserted. BrainJack spotted another drone zipping around the place.

Stretch picked the door, and Beckett began to search the ground floor, whilst BrainJack searched the astral. Becket found a whiteboard referring to Subject 13, and a bunch of complex equations. He took a photo. BrainJack found nothing in the building, but spotted there was an underground section he couldn’t reach.

Underground we found a lab, which smelt very strongly of dead things. We found 3 dead people, wearing lab coats. Their bodies were covered in wounds, slashing, charing and with caved in skulls. Becket snapped a pic.

We found a room secured by a steel door, marked “Special Projects: No Unauthorised Admission” Kate opened the door, and inside we found a lab full of clone tanks, some of them smashed and one empty. On the floor was a female human with dark hair. Beckett turned her over to see she was very dead, covered in some kind welts and with a deformed arm and bloody claws on her fingers. . She looked like Samantha, allowing for the arm. On further investigation the other clones all looked like her as well. One of them seemed to be alive and pristine, curled in a foetal position. BrainJack inspected the body on the floor and realised some of the wounds were from a high-powered TASER.

Also in the room was a whiteboard wall, covered in symbols (Beckett snapped picures). This referred to 14 specimens, once for each jar. Stretch inspected the computers but couldn’t breach their security, however she did find a reference to Project Underworld, including controls to open Flask 12 - the one with the normal looking clone.

We decided to open the tank. The fluid drained away and we saw electrical discharges running around her chakra. As she came round, she bared her teeth to attack, but beforeshe could, Stretch shot her, Beckett kicked her back and BrainJack used magic to force her into a seating position. Stretch then executed her

Session 1 — 22/9/2

Not long after ShadowPaw’s ritual the city’s power has come back on. ShadowPaw exited stage right, to visit her sister in Vancouver.

We watched a news broadcast where UCAS declared a state of emergency, and suspension of elections until 2050(?).

Stretch was contacted by Detective Riviera, who wanted us to try and find a missing girl, his cousin Samantha. - offering ¥4.5k She’s been missing for a month or so. We agreed to meet him at 22:00 at the Chicago’s Own Pizzeria, in Cabbage Town. Beckett did some digging into Riviera. First name Nicholas. Recently promoted to detective. Has a rep as a white hat.

He was sat with his back to the door we entering, like a gonk, unaware of us entering. We startled him as we came up to him.

Samantha was last see on North Green View Avenue, an old industrial estate in Toronto. Not sure what she was doing there. She’s a human white woman, early 20s, with short black hair. She looks like she’s walking with a purpose in a photo we’re given. A friend of hers said she was being paid to be a lab rat by an outfit called Janus Industries. He seemed worried about being overheard as he said this. A housemate had said she had been having strange dreams. No partner or SO. Bit of an otaku, but not sure if she’s a technomancer. Address 155 Baker Street, Cabbage Town. We have keys. She has had a housemate, but she went back to Québec when the sectarian problems kicked off.

We kicked off some planning: Beckett: 3 (Contacts and Network) Stretch: 3 (Electronic research) BrainJack: 4 (Astral surveillance) Total:10

We then went to her apartment, which is on an upper floor, half way down a corridor. The area is pretty low-rent, and studenty Her front door wasn’t forced, but had definetly been kicked, at about shin height. We were interrupted by a neighbour, an old ork woman. Said some people in ‘natty suits’came and took her away - about 6 weeks ago. Prior to that, someone (male) tried to come in and kickedher door in the process, but she wouldn’t let them in. Smart girl, scientist, don’t you know. Oh, and she had a translucent spiral on her shoulder that followed her around. (Sounds like a sprite, a new kind of spirit found in the matrix, possibly like a familiar for a technomancer)

We went in, and BrainJack cleverly worked out the lights weren’t trapped, by turning them on. The place looked like it had been systematically searched - not by her. It hadn’t been turned over straight away after her disappearance -it hadn’t been like this when Riviera came looking. Also, they whole place was trashed, suggested they hadn’t found what they were looking for. Finding nothing else, and setting up an agreement with Victoria to call us if she sees anything we decided to leave.

As we left, Brainjack spotted small Robin-sized drone which zipped off as soon as we appeared.
